"Mola Mola embodies the idea that if you remove everything that is not related to music, then music alone remains."
This, of course, is a wonderful statement from a manufacturer. Mola Mola is totally new in the High-End Audio world. However, it is not completely new either because the famous designer Bruno Putzeys, designer of Grimm, Kii Audio, Hypex and many others, designed the entire product. We at Rhapsody have been fans of Bruno's work for a while now and we were naturally incredibly curious about his new Makua pre-stage and Kaluga mono power amplifiers. When we received this new product, we sat and listened in amazement at how a new path has been broken here as far as music reproduction is concerned.
These products have a number of technical highlights. The Makua analog preamplifier is expandable with a phono stage of the highest level. This phono stage you can control from the couch via an app and this way you can set all impedances but also all recording corrections such as RIAA, DECCA, RCA etc. The other option is a built-in DAC and this one has been developed completely from scratch by Bruno. This DAC is future proof and plays any resolution.
When you listen to this in combination with the Kaluga mono class D power amplifiers (Bruno has developed almost all class D amplifiers, so he knows a thing or two) your mouth falls open with musical amazement. We have already combined this amplifier set with our TAD Reference monitor speakers, Magico's including the S7 without problems and the Sonus Faber Il Cremonese.
In short, we are super excited. The Makua preamp costs €8,490 and the Kaluga mono power amp costs €11,900 per set.
