35 YEARS OF RHAPSODY

Five years back we celebrated our anniversary big time at the Wissel-oord Studios. Fond memories for us and all our Rhapsody friends. This lustrum year we are taking it a bit
more modest, but certainly just as festive.
It will be one of the last shows in Hilversum. Not with a set of several tons, but this time with a compact but very complete set that we think sounds fantastic.

- Cannonball Adderley quintet -

During our show, this album takes center stage. Why? In 1957, Cannonball left his own formation to join Miles Davis to record the iconic albums Kind of Blue and Milestones. In return, Miles joined in 1958 as sideman with Adderley's all-star quintet for the session of what would prove to be yet another legendary album: Somethin' Else. 'One of the most gloriously laid-back blowing sessions of the hard bop era.' according to Allmusic.com.

An album with a reputation for good reason, as many jazz fans gave this Blue Note-album gladly to their music friends as an introduction to "real" jazz.
